Visa Information
Visa Information for full time International Students
Indian student visas are issued for the duration of your course. In order to qualify for a student visa, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- You have a confirmed place on a course at a recognized education institution
- You are not already in the country on a tourist or business visa
- You have paid all relevant visa fees
You can apply for a student visa either at your national Indian embassy or online. Student visas are multiple entry but do not allow you to work while in India. Students with spouses will be able to apply for a spousal visa for their partner to join them.
You must have a relevant student visa to study in India and cannot start your studies at CEPT without one. You must obtain your student visa before travelling to India.
In order to obtain your visa you will require an official offer letter from CEPT University which will state the program you are studying and the length of your course.
The type of visa you will need and the process for applying for it will depend on the type of course you wish to study, the duration of the course and your country of origin. Please check the Indian Educational Visa Requirements for your country at: https://indiavisaonline.gov.in
The university offers support and advice to students applying for visas but cannot guarantee a successful application. We advise you allow three months to make your application although they can be much quicker. The Exchange Office can offer advice to students and faculty applying for visas for exchanges and teaching fellowships but they will still require a student visa.
