UG Foundation Year (CFP)

CEPT Foundation Program (CFP) 2023-24

The CEPT Foundation Program identifies a set of skills, abilities, and capacities required by first-year undergraduate students and guides the students to achieve excellence in them. Through its pedagogy, it works to instil a strong work ethic that will be useful in the transition from school to one’s professional career. The program is common for all undergraduate students securing admission at CEPT University. We believe that engaging with design, and different aspects of the built environment requires an in-depth understanding of one's areas of expertise and also an ability to dialogue across disciplines. The Foundation year is a time open to exploration of this variety, while developing skills that will be able to support all. This is part of an intersectional approach which encourages students to evolve an understanding of the interconnected nature of their future professional lives. The program balances different broad areas of focus, ranging from observation, visualisation and drawing, to the ability to analyse, interpret, make and represent; to skills related to working with different kinds of materials; and to reading, research and writing abilities. All of these come together in a mix of highly structured exercises and opportunities to experiment and explore, as well as to engage with contemporary experts in the arts and social sciences.

Welcome Note

The CEPT learning community of CEPT University welcomes you to the Foundation Programme, where you will spend the first year acquiring foundational skills which you will need to continue your professional education.

Both the semesters of the CEPT Foundation Programme will be conducted on campus and students are required to be present throughout the duration of the academic year. There will also be mandatory field study trips during the academic year, intended to promote experiential learning.

The Monsoon Semester begins on the 28th August, 2023, with a welcome note by the Provost at the BNB lecture Hall at 10.30 am. All students are expected to be present for it. The session will be followed by an orientation session with the CFP faculty.
