A: Fundamental course structure for MUI and MUI (majors in WASH) are similar. Both the courses get the same degree Master’s in Urban Infrastructure. The transcript in case of students who opt for WASH will state that the student has major in (WASH) for the MUI course it will simply state Master’s in Urban Infrastructure. Mandatory courses for MUI-WASH focus on public health, sanitation technology, behaviour change. While for MUI students the focus is on overall urban infrastructure courses including courses on water and sanitation.  Studio and foundation semester remains common for MUI & MUI (WASH) students.

MUI (WASH) refers to Master’s in Urban Infrastructure with major in Water Sanitation and Hygiene.  CEPT is amongst the selected institutes to roll out MUI WASH, Supported by IHE, Delft and is part of prestigious Global Sanitation Graduate School (GSGS) (Refer https://sanitationeducation.org for more details). The students subscribing for this will look at all the aspects of urban infrastructure and will deep dive in Water Sanitation and Hygiene with some specialized courses. This would prepare them for vast and well-established requirements of WASH specialists in the urban sector and development agencies. WASH specialization encourages and would give preference to female candidates to apply and pursue the course. Studio courses in MUI (WASH), Preparation of citywide Urban WASH Plan, WASH systems and Services, Financing Urban Infrastructure and PPP Models in WASH, WASH Governance etc. They can also subscribe to other MUI courses as electives. In this major, all the enrolled students will earn a fellowship and funded thesis/Directed Research on successful completion. Their work will find place in global platform of GSGS.

A: There is one common application form for programs MUP/ MUH /MUI-WASH/MUTS for all candidates. Based on total number of seats available all candidates will be given admission in the M.Plan Foundation semester as per merit list. Please note for MUP/ MUH /MUI(MUI-WASH)/MUTS final seat allocation will be at the end of Semester 1 as per section 5.0 of Application Information and Requirements in Admission Procedure.

A: Name of the program is approved by UGC. All the programs are in place since years, oldest starting from 1972. These programs have evolved over a period of time, keeping pace with the changing urban development paradigms. CEPT has been ahead of time in recognizing the need of specialists within the planning domain, according to the current needs and has restructured and renamed its ongoing programs to build specialized capacities amongst the graduating planners. Since decades, CEPT planners have been well received and highly appreciated by the corporates, NGOs, government organizations, research, academia, development sector to name a few.

A: No. However, CEPT University allows you to take certain credits in any other programme offered by other Faculties (i.e. Architecture, Management, Design & Technology) at the University

A: No

A:  You must submit the portfolio of your work as per instructions in application form.

A: Yes, if you are in your final semester you are eligible to apply, provided you are able to produce a letter from your College / University, that you are currently registered in the Final year / Final semester and will finish all the formalities to get the final degree before the date of registration at CEPT University.

Candidates, who get admission offer, will be admitted provisionally. At the time of admission, they should submit a provisional degree certificate from the institute along with the migration certificate.

The student should have completed all the formalities related to their previous degree (exams, juries, etc.) before the commencement of the semester in July 2023 at CEPT. The final dates for the same will be updated on CEPT website.

A: The references can be from academic and/or non-academic sources. In case of MUD candidates- who are currently employed, one of the references should be from the current employers.

A: For the bank loan CEPT has tie-up with few banks. The students can also avail bank loan from their own home-town. In either case Bank loan subsidy to the tune of 50% is given on the interest paid by the students as per CEPT University criteria.

A: Yes. CEPT University has a Career and Alumni Services for proactively assisting students. Faculty of Planning also has a very active placement coordination committee and has track record of more than four decades of campus placements.

A: Masters’ programs at Faculty of Planning are designed to prepare young professionals in taking various positions as consultants in private and corporate sector, in government departments and agencies, in city planning and urban development authorities, in public housing agencies, in non-government organizations working for informal settlements, private real estate agencies, research agencies, academic institutes and think tanks. A: SWS - Summer Winter School. The Summer and Winter Schools (SWS) at CEPT University are opportunities for students to gain valuable learning experience that goes far beyond the structured classrooms (https://sws.cept.ac.in/).

A: Yes, Hostel facility is available for which the candidates should give their preferences early. Besides, for the initial days, home-stay arrangements are also offered by the CEPT University’s Students’ Services Office (SSO). During orientation Student Services (SSO) at CEPT University organizes a ‘Housing Mela’ on CEPT campus for students who have not secured a hostel room and/or opt for PG accommodation.

A: Some of the Universities provide the marks conversion formula which needs to be submitted.

A: Yes.  A student in the final academic semester can apply, and he/she will be considered for the admission process. He/she will be submitting marks sheets till the previous completed academic semester. If he/she clears the process he/she will be provided provisional admission, however he/she will have to submit the provisional degree certificate to CEPT (or a letter from previous College/Institute) at time of admission, failing which the admission stands cancelled.  (Please refer FAQ 8)

A: A student in the 8th semester/ final semester can apply even if he/she has backlog in 5th or 6th semester and he/she will be considered for the admission process based on CGPA till that time. Candidate will be submitting marks sheets till 7th semester (or second last semester). If he/she clears the process he will be offered provisional admission, however he/she will have to submit the provisional degree certificate to CEPT (or a letter from previous College, institute) at time of Seat Allotment confirming admission, failing which the admission stands cancelled.

A: The submission of portfolio is compulsory as per instructions in application form. Additionally, SOP is required to be submitted as asked in application form.  

A: For all programs MUP/MUH/MUI(MUI-WASH)/MUTS, as per instructions in application form. The Portfolio must be saved as a single file in PDF format and submitted. The file size should not be more  than 25MB.

A: Referees are  required to submit the online reference form, including a reference letter, to assist the University in making a full assessment of each applicant’s academic record and abilities.

A: No. The work (Professional) experience is counted as the full time experience gained after completion of qualifying degree.

A: Students graduating from FP find employment in a wide range of institutions and organizations depending on the interest area that the student wants to pursue. Most students graduating from FP go to work in Consultancies, MNC’s, Government departments (state government and central government), Municipal corporations, Development authorities, Research organizations, Academic institutions, NGO’s and other similar institutions.
There are a variety of companies hiring students from FP.

A: Students receive very competitive salaries as per the prevalent market norms for planners. The package offered varies as per each organization and the student. Factors like the student’s calibre, subject knowledge, commitment, interest area, soft skills, location etc. are all considered for offer of package.
