The Master’s in Architecture in Housing Design (MHD) program is meant for architecture professionals aiming to acquire specialized expertise in the design of housing.
India is at the threshold of massive urbanization. There is a rapid influx of people moving to cities and its peripheral areas to benefit from availability of better economic opportunities and access to modern standards of living. This has led to an increased demand for housing which is further fuelled by the rising levels of household income. This has also led to a reimagination of the traditional housing types to more complex housing typologies that may include challenges of density, mix of uses, economic efficiency, climate response and technology.
Master of Conservation and Regeneration (MCR) program is a two-year curriculum that offers education to generate inventive, future-oriented roles for built heritage promoting inclusive and resilient environments. The program situates itself in context of World Heritage Historic City of Ahmedabad and engages with the theory and practice of architectural conservation led urban regeneration.
The program trains built environment professionals to critically research, visualise and write about how architecture is produced, inhabited, symbolised, and represented, both globally and particularly the South Asian context.
Architectural discourses from within South Asia are newly emerging even though the region has been a subject of extensive scholarly exploration. There is a distinct opening up of professional opportunities through the expansion of publishing, new curatorial platforms, emerging heritage concerns, and the rapidly expanding education sector, highlighting the need for a new generation of critical-creative architectural historians and theoreticians. Responding to these developments, the Faculty of Architecture at CEPT University offers India’s only dedicated program on architectural history and research.
The landscape program at CEPT University has been at the center of creation, nurturing and propagation of landscape knowledge in India since the last 30 years. With a diverse course offering, the program develops future professionals who can confront the challenge of landscape architecture in both natural and built environments.
With an aim to create quality professionals, the program offers a wide range of learning, ranging from the basics of landscape foundation studios to vertically integrated studios that offer collaborative peer learning. To complement the hands-on studios, the courses offered allows to foster design thinking and explore multiple ways in which landscape can contribute positively.
The M Arch program with specialization in Architectural Tectonics at the Faculty of Architecture, CEPT University is a rigorous studio-based teaching environment, supported by a state-of-the-art workshop, which offers manual, automated, and digital tools for production. Students shall undergo this training to design and explore their ideas in the form of models, prototypes, and part or full-scale mock-ups. The studio is both a place of research and implementation through design.
This specialization is an opportunity to explore existing and emerging methods and tools of design and production, helping students to connect between questions of architectural meaning to the questions of making while keeping up with the constantly evolving profession of architecture.

The Masters in Computational Design and Fabrication is a two-year program focused on training professionals to conceptualize form, material, and fabrication processes to develop cutting-edge design solutions. Today’s design world requires professionals to develop a design process which integrates computational thinking, tools, techniques, and digital fabrication. These computational design processes will be adopted within different domains of design [from products to building envelop systems] and at varying scales [form seating element to façade systems]. Various mathematical constructs, biological principle, material science and environmental parameters will be explored and applied to achieve high performing, efficient and optimized designs. Overall the program will encourage students to explore an integrative pedagogy to demonstrate the interdependency between design, material, and construction technology.
The Faculty of Design at CEPT University is offering a post graduate program in Furniture Design. The M. Des. (Furniture Design) program is a 2-year full-time, skill-based professional program to prepare students as designers and innovators for a rapidly emerging furniture industry.
The M. Des. (Furniture Design) program is a pragmatic response to the growing needs of the furniture industry and of the market. Today, the rate of development in all Indian Metros is exponential in nearly all sectors. The demand for furniture follows on from there in the residential, commercial and institutional sectors. Currently, a large percentage of furniture supplied to the market comes from abroad and could as easily be designed and made in India.

Urban Management is a discipline that is focused on addressing the challenges and realising the opportunities of urban living. It blends specialized knowledge of urban settlements with the principles and practices of management. Urban managers understand how cities and towns function, and they strive to improve the social, technological, operational and financial functioning of urban areas with the aim of improving liveability.
The Master’s in Urban Management (MUM) program aspires to create a pool of high quality professionals with with the knowledge and skills to lead organizations which manage human habitats. The program focuses on management of urban systems and services and their improvement. Students are exposed to the principles and tools of management that are applied to both private and public built spaces. Through this program, students develop skills to address complex problems like enhancing long term efficiency of urban services, improving day-to-day functioning of cities and finding ways to improve financing of urban systems.
In the era of rapid urbanization, planning a city or an urban area is challenging yet rewarding task for those keenly interested in transforming and improving our cities. This requires a multi-layered, nuanced understanding of the factors influencing the development of our cities. The MUP program is designed to equip the students with knowledge and skills necessary for dealing with the complex issues at different scales, and providing exposure to the national and international best-practices in urban planning.
Urban housing, apart from being a shelter, is seen as means of access to employment and livelihood, urban and community services, proximity to desirable neighbours. Majority of urban housing is supplied by the market or self-built where land, regulations and finance play a major in house price and affordability.
The MUH program aims to provide applied knowledge about local housing market, policy making, planning, design and technology aspects of urban housing and project formulation and monitoring, design and technology aspects of urban housing. The programme will impart generic knowledge related to urban habitat, knowledge related to housing domain and tools and techniques required to analyse and apply solutions to urban housing related problems.
Urban centres are currently growing at a rapid rate and facing immense pressure for provisioning, upgradation and maintenance of their basic services and infrastructure. Often the infrastructure services are neglected due to lack of coordination and planning for the anticipated spatial growth and densification. Such growth areas can become underserviced places of the cities, one from which many problems of the city stem: degraded water resources, water, sanitation and waste problems, uncontrolled pests, and crime due to poor access to water and sanitation services.
MUI program gives students a professional training that equips them to work as infrastructure specialists who can comprehensively assess growing urban infrastructure needs and formulate strategies and efficient infrastructure service delivery projects for urban development programs of the Government, bilateral and multilateral donors, private sector consulting, research and academia.
An effective and efficient transport system is key to economic growth of urban areas and regions. Planning and management of urban transport is complex and requires a comprehensive understanding of various sub-systems like roads and railways, modes like public, private and nonmotorised transport, passenger and freight mobility, and the other related dimensions of land use, travel behaviour, energy, affordability, financing and governance.
With this perspective, MUTS aims to provide holistic knowledge on planning, technology, design, operations and management of urban transport, besides developing skill sets related to transport system analysis and application of various policy instruments. The programme will combine theoretical analysis with practical applications to help students understand how to deal with transport problems in the real world. The focus is to enable students to comprehend the complexities of urban transport and develop their capacities to shape the future of transport in cities.
Master's in Urban Design (MUD) is intended for individuals who have a strong interest in the practice of shaping the physical form of urban areas and in the design of public places.
India’s rapid urbanization and the resultant fast paced transformation of urban areas particularly poses great challenges to the existing approaches to design of public domain in cities. This also creates an opportunity to imagine the future scenarios of cities with a strong focus on design with functionality, livability, and sustainability.
CEPT University focuses on understanding, designing, planning, constructing and managing human habitats. Its teaching programs aim to build thoughtful professionals and its research programs deepen understanding of human settlements. CEPT University also undertakes advisory projects to further the goal of making habitats more liveable. Through its education, research and advisory activities, CEPT strives to improve the impact of habitat professions in enriching the lives of people in India's villages, towns and cities.
